This project is an extension of the Noguchi Museum in Queens that builds on the character of its existing brick walls while adapting the language for new uses. The design is organized around two brick volumes: one a dedicated exhibition hall, the other a mixed-use building with a ceramics studio, gift shop, café, exhibition prep areas, research spaces, and other support functions. The two structures are joined by a glass-enclosed exhibition space, creating a light, transparent connection between the heavier brick forms. Together, they balance solidity and openness while carrying forward Noguchi’s material sensibilities in brick, stone, and metal, shaping an environment that supports both his art and the community around it.
