Terra Ritrovata is a project that reconnects the community with its land through thoughtful design and purposeful planning. By pushing the school underground, the project returns the surface to the community as vibrant spaces like green areas, a picnic zone, and an open piazza. The classrooms are arranged around a light-filled central courtyard, offering both privacy and opportunities for outdoor learning. Meanwhile, community programs are placed near public spaces and main roads for easier access, creating a smooth and inviting flow between the school and its surroundings. Additionally, the design draws inspiration from Sardinian heritage, with the piazza featuring a lapwing tile pattern that celebrates the region’s agricultural history and connection to the land. Ultimately, Terra Ritrovata blends sustainability, cultural identity, and shared spaces to foster a stronger bond between people and their environment while respecting and celebrating local traditions.
